Low Activity

I've been having a low activity rate on the forums/in-game, and I'm placing this for my reason. Most games I've hung around for a while and came back to Warcraft, but that's just my attitude. Thus, the new game is... as some of you know... Spore.

We had a discussion about Spore in the Garbage Can (which died), but this isn't about Spore, this is about when I'll most likely come back to moderating the forum/taking part in WC3 games and things like that.

I'll explain my situation:

The Goal Of Spore

The goal of spore is to get to the center of the galaxy. Easy, right? Just jump from star system to star system on your crazy little ship and you'll eventually end up in the center of the galaxy. This is quite untrue. There is a race called the Grox that guard the center of the universe. It is a belief in the galaxy of Spore that the Grox are protecting some sort of treasure at the center of the universe. Either way, they are enemies to pretty much every race and do not like visitors, naturally ending up shooting at them or something ASAP.

Well some people might ask why not just run by them as fast as possible. Well, as you get to the center of the galaxy, gravity starts to get REALLY high, and thus it's incredibly difficult to move your ship fast/far. With such a limited range to move, it gets hard to move further inward from star to star. This ends up getting you basically stuck and confused sometimes as to which star you came from so you can return or which star ahead of you that you can reach. With the Grox on your ass all that time, you usually end up just plain dead.

My Strategies
(Which Hasn't Worked)

My strategy at the start was to run past them. As I explained earlier, that kind of doesn't work. The next strategy I've tried was to blow the living crap out of all their star systems 1 by 1 until I finally got to the center. That would either take forever or simply not work at all, considering every time I nuke a planet or take it over, the Grox at least get a few hits on me and I simply have to go all the way back to my empire with low health and energy to get a repair... or I can stick around the allies near the Grox territory and pay massive amounts to get repaired.

Now those are the strategies that didn't work... now the one that I'm currently working on:

My new strategy that I'm trying is to expand my empire to the center of the galaxy (would probably take a weeks worth of playing (school included)). This way, I have a good spot to repair and such whenever I get hurt. Now while I'm there, I plan on making friends with some local empires to make sure I don't get screwed over too hard by the Grox. Then, I'll lead a massive assault against the Grox and hopefully wipe them out, clearing the way to the center of the galaxy.

What do you guys think?

Think my new strategy will work? Think it's worth the effort? Think there's a faster way to get it done? Give me something to go off of, because when I get to the center of the galaxy, I'll probably play for a few days or so then get bored and come back to Warcraft 3.

I believe the strategy your attempting now is the one that was intended to be used. They don't want you to win in some quick cheap way, they want it to actually take effort.

Another thing you might try, would be to ally with as many races as possible and get them to help you fight. I don't know how that system works in Spore, or if that is even possible, but it is worth a try.

Lastly, taking time means nothing. You have an infinite amount of time to play, just do it when you feel like it. (You should also have an infinite amount of new content also due to other players creations being uploaded into your galaxy.)

hes using a cracked version.. there are no new content added to what hes doing...

EDIT: btw sin what the hell happened to combat arms?! last i checked you dropped to 108th...

gather a massive army (massive=ALOT LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT) and attack them but dont just attack head on wear them down

After I realized how much their gear buying system sucked and how it would never change, mostly everyone on ventrilo quit. It was good fun for about a month or two, then it kind of died in our vent. Either way, if I'm somehow in the top 200, I acclaim that to be lucky. I haven't played for about a month and a half.

basically make some allies as far in as you can go and try from there. so you take a leap and build up, take a leap and build up. (try to go to B, then make an empire at C) get as close as possible before you start expanding.

I got Spore a few days ago and i love it Smile

When i found the Grox i actually allied them.

It's quite easy if you destroy 10 planets near them (Just don't destroy their planets. It gives about +50 rep with them.).
Then you can do missions(+25) for them or bribe them (Bribing gives +10) or use the Happy Ray for a +20 bonus.
Also if you are allied with them everyone else will attack you.

That wont work for me, Belial. I'm currently at -603 rep (destroying planets (yes, destroying them completely w/ 4mil nuke)). Anyways, I just didn't even move my empire and allied those around the Grox. I'm currently in the process of killing off the Grox as I type this, and it's going well. I got 3 pretty decently-sized empires helping me out, and as the grox die they gain more ground and gain stronger ships. I might get to the center of the galaxy by tonight. Very Happy

but wait if you ally the Grox then you cant get to the center w/o attacking them so eventually you will have to attack them but then again... (TanK is fighting himself now..) maybe if you befriend them enough they will let you in to the center... although fighting seems 100x more fun then allying but allying seems 100x easier....

Lol, the arrogance of SinisteRing knows no bounds. He thought he could take down the mightiest of galactic empires by himself, and only after failing miserably multiple times did he consider acquiring allies to aid him in his goal.

The key to defeating mass galactic Empires such as the Grox is simple logic. First, target the supply and industrial planets that produce vehicles, ships, etc. Then, go for the resource producing centers to disrupt their economy. Only after both those things have been accomplish can you engage the enemy in full scale long term combat scenarios.

Actually in a man v man battle I would much prefer having a sniper rifle than an RPG, so not always true.

Actually if you ally them you can just fly to the center without any interruptions and also if you ally them you gain the badge "Dance with the Devil".

After i got to the center i started nuking their planets and that worked quite nicely since i had over 100 of those 4 mil nukes (I had so many because the Grox missions had great rewards). After like 1 hour i managed to nuke my way out of there Smile
