Its a completely different scenario, being able to remotely fool a 9-1-1 system into displaying a different location is way out of the league of reconstituting map MPQs using premade programs to insert prewritten code in order to allow certain chat commands to cause cheats to occur. People on the internet use the term "hack" very loosely. On a side note, what the fuck is with the new e-crowd misusing the word "nerf". "Nerf" means to make something fake, useless, and foam-like. But twice now I've seen it used in place of the word "buff", and I'm afraid it will become an epidemic.

| Nerf can also be used as the opposite of Buff. Essentially meaning to make something weaker.
However, if your talking about a Buff as in a status effect, then De-Buff is the correct term to use for the opposite.

I was making the point that the word Nerf came from Nerf toys being foam and useless (always negative), and should never be used to describe a "general change" by game developers, which is how people are beginning to use the word now.

| How else can you use "Nerf" besides referring to the toy, or saying to "Soften something up" (Like the toy)? Like a debuff? Status ailment? Or like...."We should change Blink strike to Blink, to nerf him" | |

| The way that people are using it that disturbs me is like saying "Hey, that hero is weak, they need a nerf, double their damage" They're using nerf as a term for general change, in this case, positive. | |

"that hero is too strong. it needs a nerf."
(also i've never seen someone use the word nerf to describe a general change except for jay.j's last post there) I've seen it used like that twice, the first time was in DotA where someone said something got nerfed when it was better, and everyone else in the game was like "WTF man, it got buffed not nerfed", and that didnt scare me as much, but then i just saw it in reference to WoW where someone asked if something got nerfed up, because it seemed like it did more damage.

But that's incorrect. Is using an MPQ editor a hack? Is using JASSCraft a hack? If not, I am not hacking. I am merely cheating, regardless of the fact that I actually didn't, and don't hardly ever cheat(ed). Using an MPQ editor, according to your logic, is the equivalent to hacking, yes? If not, then what is it? JASS Craft? Are you saying that all JASS users are hackers?
