Lycan or Vampire

In the spirit of Halloween and the Ninja vs. Pirate contest, which is better? Vampires or Lycans. That and I just saw Underworld again. Discuss.

Vampires are more powerful, but Werewolves are more awesome and less arrogant.

Personally, I think that Werepyres and/or Dracopyres are the best.

Vampire, I prefer the stealthy. Precise strikes and swift moving fighters for me.

Vampires tend to get a bunch of extra crap that I don't think they should. For example, where does the super strength and ability to stick to ceilings come from? Vampires are undead, but so are zombies so why do Vamps get so many extra abilities?

Werewolves, on the other hand, I understand having extra strength and speed. Most animals are stronger than humans naturally.

I just thought that perhaps it's because vampires are supposed to be human/bat hybrids. Still, bats aren't much known for strength. Echo location and flying are the only things I associate with bats.

My vote's for werewolves because they have a much more interesting human drama associated with them than do vampires.

Why no werepyre? half werewolf half vampire all the glory and power

Btw, Were-Pyres are horribly misnamed. Sometimes just smashing together parts of names doesn't work. Were means Human or Part, and Pyre means fire. So it's Human+Fire. Yeah, that really makes me think of a Werewolf+Vampire.

I'm not certain that "were" is Latin though. I say that because old English has the term or concept of Weregeld which means "man money." It was basically blood money in order to stop the cycle of revenge killing that would go on between clans or families that were "obligated" to kill someone in order to put their kin's soul to rest. The point of that, though, is that "were" came from old English and may not have a Latin root.

Yeah, normally I go by Latin, but in this case I'm not sure. I just heard somewhere that "Were" was "Man" or "Part". I'm not sure that is 100% accurate. Pyre on the other hand IS from Latin roots obv.
