Japan and China have some interesting holidays though.

| It doesn't mean that we'd get school or work off... just celebrate or at least know about stuff such as "odd Chinese or Japanese" holidays. Make life more interesting at the least. | |

| Not really. People wouldn't take notice. Really now, Happy Ukraine independence day or something....Like really. If you're in a place that has no relevance to that why would you care? Even if you were Ukranian...Holidays and celebrations are only special because they mean something to that person, and because they are not frequent.
Your birthday only means so much to you because it's for you. If your birthday was everyday, then it wouldn't be that special since it becomes normal.

| I barely celebrate a birthday anymore. Perhaps get together with some friends and drink a bit, but one could do that any day of the week. I'm half tempted to get my drink on after this wednesday is done and all my four essays have been turned in =/ | |

| i purposely didnt put it there :/ i could have also put arbor day... AIDS DAY (check google, its there!). thing is, you can't have two religious holidays celebrating different things at the same time (are you a jewish christian or something?) or it would defy your religious beliefs... like if i lit the menorah at a christmas party it would be saying that i'm jewish. so thanks for the 'good job,' i know, i'm good its an either-or thing. | |

| Your remarkably ignorant sometimes Kuro lol. Hanukah and Christmas are at different times. I have no idea what you mean by you can't have 2 religious holidays celebreating different things at the same time. Of course you can. | |

| What are you talking about Rapid....
She's saying that if you're Jewish, celebrate Hanukah. If you're Christian celebrate Christmas (Although Christmas is a lot more of a secular holiday now a days).
She's saying celebrating another RELIGIONS holiday is well... blasphemous. You only believe in one right...? Even if your parents are Jewish & Christian, you only BELIEVE in one of them, or maybe none of them.
It's like celebrating Eid & Hanukah...doesn't make sense.

| Well what would you say if I were to tell you that I am Jewish, and therefore celebrate Hanukah, BUT my grandparents on my Mom's side are catholic and the whole family goes to their house on the 24th of December to celebrate Christmas. Please do not make definite final statements that are untrue, expecially ascertaining to religous beliefs and practices. | |

At least acknowledge what I write please. Even if you "Celebrate" both of them because of family ties - you only really "Believe" in one of the religions. Celebrating another religions celebration makes little sense. You might respect and tolerate and think ya, the minorahs and stuff was a miracle - but doesn't mean you need to celebrate it....because you're Christian. Or you're Jewish and there's no need to acknowledge Jesus B-day (Even though it's not). The point remains that religious holidays should remain religious not become secularized like Christmas is becoming.
