similar to the 'which grade would you like' thing, this is a psychology experiment about ordering.
would you rather order your grades (say you had 3): -A,B,C -C,B,A
(basically positive to negative or negative to positive)
and give a reason why.
also: -good news then bad news -bad news then good news

Negative to positive. I don't think a universal rule can be placed for this, so I'll just say because I like for actions to reinforce my philosophy about life:
Although things may be bad now, there is usually something good just around the corner"
So, I usually expect bad things but remember that I can't define one without the other, so I'm optimistic that out of the bad will emerge good.

None of those options. The way memory tends to work is that it remembers the beginning and end the best. If anything is forgotten, or less important it's the middle. That's why I would but the worst grade in the middle. Doesn't matter what starts or ends it.
So: B, C, A or A, C , B.

Oooo I didn't realize it was two separate questions. It doesn't matter to me. It's trivial. It matters on the magnitude of the Good and Bad news. If I had to choose one...Good news first. I'll be happy for that brief moment before the bad news and then be brought down. Otherwise I'd be down first, and the good news might not even have an impact.
