Interestign concept. I don't like what she has laid out (The oil thing) but the concept of helping the worlds problems through gaming is good. (Such as helping obesity with Wii fit). It's a bit optimistic though. The game she had though didn't seem like..."fun" though. That's an obstacle, but one who overcomes it could make a lot of profit and help the world a lot.

Good concept. On the mark with me as far as staying in the virtual world goes. No job opportunities and having trouble finding the right courses in school make me want to bury myself in a fictional world where none of that matters.

The only problem I see with her concept is the lack of an explanation of the death system. If you die in a game, it's okay because you can try again. If you die in real life, it's game over forever.

I actually have many issues with most of what she said. I did find it very interesting though. The part I liked the most was the way she talked about the "skills" that gamers were acquiring and how to apply those to real life. I think there could be serious applications of that concept, with even things as simple as including "level-ups" in your work environment.

Hur-dur, and that was probably a lousy example on my part. However, there are many situations where applying the reward system from video games to real life could help motivate people.

Toss one at me? I think the only difference is the perception of it being work or it being a game. It's the freedom of choice that you choose to do one, and have to do another one that matters - even if it's the exact same activity (See Edward Deci experiments from 1971 for details).
