| League of Legends, I play it; anyone else? League of Legends Website. P.S.: It's completely free, and you can purchase anything the game offers with points you gain in-game; only Skins (They don't affect gameplay) can't be purchased with in-game points. P.P.S.: I'm voting yes. My account is BalnazzarBot. Feel free to add me.

| It's like DotA, but people who have played longer are stronger and people who pay real life money get stronger faster. | |

| It's by the original makers of DotA, actually, which is why it's better than HoN (Heroes of Newerth, another DotA successor). HoN IS DotA in a new engine, while LoL is a new game based on DotA. The heroes (Champions) are original (different from DotA, unlike HoN), it has new mechanics, the denying is no more, etc.
I've played it for like 4 days and I'm already lvl 11 (almost 12, I'm writing this a few minutes after I closed LoL); sure, you can pay money to gain double the experience for a week or get "Runes", which add a small bonus, but those runes can also be purchased with IP (the points you earn in-game), and their bonuses are not all that major. Other than that, every week the list of free available heroes is renewed, like 10 champions a week, which you can use freely during that week. So even if you can't afford to buy the high-cost champions (Balanced with the lower-cost ones. For example I like Fiddlesticks (Cost 1150) more than I like Cryophoenix (Cost 6300), I do much better with him. And one of the most used champions just happens to cost 480, it's called Master Yi), you can still use them during that week, because every week presents a selection of champions of all costs and kinds.
Also, there's a "Ranked Match" mode which is only available to lvl 20 or higher, and I think it gives more IP, so there is some sort of division between new players and pros. Also there is the Practice Mode, which is like the custom maps section of Wc3, you host it and set the rules, for example, instead of playing the game in its "Official" format of 3 vs 3 and 5 vs 5, you could play 2 vs 2, or 5 players vs 5 bots, etc.

On Topic though, I don't play LoL anymore... I played one game, but there really wasn't enough time to get acquainted with the characters or the abilities and the people were... dicks at best.

| Odd, I find that MOST players are nice (I'm quite good when I'm not trying someone for the first time, though), specially compared to DotA and HoN. And what do you mean by there wasn't enough time? Honest question.
Also, am I great or am I great?

| I don't remember. I guess since I'm not inclined to play a DotA style game, then I am predisposed to not really like this game.
Oh, I remember. I died. A lot. In between dying there wasn't much time to formulate a strategy. But the laptop on which I played it doesn't handle games incredibly well, so that might be a minor issue and cause a slightly biased reaction.

| I also forgot to mention is that LoL, like HoN, recommends you items according to your champion/hero, making it a lot more noob-friendly. | |

| In my first full game after buying Veigar, I stacked up to around 830 ability power, and went 14/3. That hero is epic as hell. LoL. | |

| LoL isn't worth it. Mega_Zero is currently the best player in the game. He can stop practicing with his team for a week and still win. The competitive scene of LoL is just... nonexistant. This doesn't hold true in Heroes of Newerth, as the tournaments are fed massive amounts of money.
LoL is easy. New players would do well to play it and learn it. HoN is hard. Modding and competition are stronger there.
It's really that simple.
P.S. Man, it's been a week since I've checked these forums almost.

| Competitive scenes are for e-scenesters. I don't need that shit. I don't want people to be paid to "play" professionally for "massive amounts of money". I don't think gamers should "practice" with their teams. I think games are meant to be played, something this ethereal can't be slated on a competitive level because it sharpens the real gameplay to the point of nonexistence. You MUST have the right team composition and MUST execute synergetic combos correctly to win.
Basically my point is this: lulz for LoLz

| I agree with Pyth. On both points, lulz for LoLz and Veigar being really cool.
P.S.: Now that I bought my 9th hero (480 and 1350 costs) I'll be saving for Twitch, I just love that rat. xD (Or Kog'Maw, but most likely Twitch).
Btw my champions as of now are: Alistar the Minotaur, Master Yi the Wuju Master, Nasus the Keeper of the Sands (my best), Fiddlesticks Harbringer of Doom (My best along with Nasus), Tryndamere the Barabarian King, Evelynn the Widowmaker, Amumu the Sad Mummy, Dr. Mundo The Madman of Zaun and Twisted Fate The Card Master. In no particular order.
Edit: It used to say "Bought my 8th hero", but well, I wanted Twisted Fate. But as of now I really will start saving for Twitch.

| LoL is still for lower-level players. You'll never achieve the true thrill of defeating someone who is difficult while you play LoL. You'll just end up stomping noobs all day long. And if BLC has taught me anything, that makes games VERY boring. Competition promotes playing a competitive game. Without competition, you have nothing. The only other thing that would promote repeat playing is modding. LoL doesn't have that. HoN does. | |

| Alright. If you don't want to refute my positions, I'll take it as a win. Continue your blabbering about how awesome this game is and ignore my points stating why it's terrible. I'm not one to judge a game without playing it. I have, and will never touch it again. Ignorance is bliss. | |

| I already told you my stance: "Competitive" gaming causes the game to cease to be a game. And at that point it isn't even a sport.
Edit to excuse myself: Competitive team gaming*

| Why play if you don't have a goal to achieve? With competition, your goal is to become a better player. Why play a game that's "just for fun"? There's no purpose... no reason to play. Sure, you might enjoy it if you're ignorant, but it's way more fun to be able to be able to outsmart or outplay other players. | |

Yeah, thats why I said team gaming. Winning is always fun, but when its all pre-determined metagame and synchronization with 4 other peeps, its not a game anymore. Sowwy

| It's like saying that if it comes naturally, great, it's fun; but if you have to plan so much on it that it becomes similar to a work, it's not, and you won't play it.
Just adding another way to put it so... Why? You should move these last posts somewhere else.

| Actually, each of you has a valid and correct argument. Different players play for different reasons and enjoy different parts of the game. Discovering what type of situations make you happy and knowing what type of player you are can help you find the gaming situations that let you have to most fun.
E.G. SinisteRing likes to win and takes pleasure from heavy competition. Some people want over the top epic moments even if they don't win. Me personally, I like awesome synergies, combos that work well together, and well executed pre-game strategies.
