Forum Poll (5/30): Loading/Game Speed

With the code optimizations, will the general overall lag be less though? Or can it not be split 50/50 or something...?

Loading Screen will usually take far longer to load than lagging at the start of the game... however loosing people from lagging so bad after such an early loading screen is extremely bad, especially since the -anns mode is very touchy.

However, the way DotA does it is that they have it spread the lagg every 15 seconds. This is why you'll feel small lagg spikes when the game timer hits 0:15, 0:45, and 1:15 in DotA. I can do this for MM&M, but it will take a while and I'd prefer to wait for beta to implement it.

Add that option. I can deal with the lag/load till Beta. I like that 15second lag distribution thing.

No need. It'll be added in beta no matter wtf you guys say, because I know for certain it's the best system there is... spreading lagg over. Less time waiting, more time to do stuff, and less people lagging out. Almost perfect.

So this is the "for now" type thing.

Null Vote/Leave it the way it is untill Beta, till that system comes out then?

Thus far it's been unanimously voted for the loading screen. Thus, it will remain that way.

After loading screen. If the game is going to wait 5 minutes for them to load I'd rather they just drop out.

The problem with that lagg, though, Bash, is that you might drop out! You might be the person who doesn't have a good enough computer to maintain that lagg.

I'd prefer to keep computer specs out of the equation in MM&M and allow anyone with any computer to be able to play it with little consequence.

I still think it should have a cut-off point for a loading time. Say after 4 minutes if you still havn't loaded it drops you. Most are a reasonable couple minutes but some extend into the far too long of a load area.

Hey it was a suggestion, I guess I'll wait on the interval lag stabilizers.

well if you're going to stick it to the loading screen, make sure to say
'to avoid lag ingame, the loadingscreen will take a bit longer to load'

or if you're going to change it to ingame, like how island defense has it, quickly display the message

'please wait a few seconds for the game to load.'

you know what i mean.

and if you're eventually going to make the lag spread out, do all that stuff in a fixer-upper version where u add a bunch of doodads to the game. later on.

i've never really had any problem with lag in this game, except when a guy use sea elemental morph and this dude who was a slug. other than that, not much lag.
